Intended to be a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the focus has shifted, with predictions being made about which celebrities will be present and what they will wear.
Last year's event was cancelled due to the pandemic, so there were some notable differences this year, including the fact that it was broadcast live for the first time (Vogue shout-out).
This year's theme was " In America: A Lexicon of Fashion ," with the dress code being " American Independence ." A somewhat ambiguous theme, allowing for a wide variety of interpretations, but we'll leave that for you to decide.

If you needed more conviction that emo never dies, you have it here. A grand ode to Dennis Rodman's iconic party looks, soot-stained eye makeup and transparent vinyl pants really tie this look together.

You have to respect her to stay true to her character from Euphoria, Jules. Hunter walked the red carpet in a futuristic look embellished by Prada, complete with eye-catching contacts and a silver helmet.
Franck Ocean
Did someone say "Dad's daycare"? Frank Ocean certainly did it. It's safe to say that her robot baby stole the show at this year's Met Gala, and aside from her own promotion, we need to give her some props to take her parental duties seriously.

What could be more American than a full denim haircut? Think of cowboys, Woodstock, and of course, we can't forget Justin and Britney in the 2000s. The dazzling denim look gets a yes from us.
